On September 3, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, the Maryland statewide HIV Planning Group will host a stakeholder engagement meeting on Gender Affirming Care. This virtual meeting is open to the public and we are encouraging transgender and nonbinary people, allies, and those who provide services to trans communities to attend. Register online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/virtual-mdh-september-2020-hpg-meeting-gender-affirming-care-tickets-116729774899 Prior to the meeting, those who register will receive a link to go online and view a series of pre-recorded presentations. These will include a data presentation on HIV and transgender Marylanders from Colin Flynn, Chief, Center for HIV Surveillance, Epidemiology and Evaluation; a project update from the Communities Leveraging Evidence for Action and Resources (CLEAR) study and resource; and a project update from the Transgender Response Team. If you want to see these presentations, it is important to register. Otherwise, the meeting organizer will not know who to send the link to. On the day of the meeting, there will be a live panel providing presentations on "Gender Affirming Care: What is it, and how to implement it?" Speakers will be presenting best practices and models of care that improve access to and retention in health care and improved outcomes for trans and nonbinary people. Our confirmed speakers thus far are Debb Dunn, PA-C, Transgender Health Coordinator at Chase Brexton Health Care; and Erin Maxwell, Trans Care Navigator at Chase Brexton Health Services. Additional speakers are being confirmed.
